ABSTRACT
This study was carried out on the role of Fulani radio in resolving herdsmen farmers’ crisis in Nigeria using Koode Radio International, Abuja as a case study. To achieve this, thee significant research objectives were formulated. The survey design was adopted and the simple random sampling techniques were employed in this study. The population size comprises of presenters/staff of Koode Radio International, Abuja. In determining the sample size, the researcher conveniently selected 33 respondents while 30 were received and validated. Self-constructed and validated questionnaire was used for data collection. The collected and validated questionnaires were analyzed using frequency tables and mean scores. While the hypotheses were tested using chi-square statistical tool. The result of the findings reveals that Fulani Radio is not effective in resolving farmers-herders’ crises in Nigeria. The findings also revealed that Fulani Radio have no positive impact on Farmers Herders crises. In regard to the findings, the study recommends that hard to reach areas can benefit from programmes of community radio broadcasting. Hence, agencies and relevant stakeholders should ensure that broadcast programs designed for and targeted at rural communities get to these target audiences; and Radio media practitioners should consider public interest by being truthful and factual as well as avoid provocative or malicious language.

CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background Of The Study
Radio is a form of technology for signaling or communicating using radio waves. Fayeye (2011). Radio waves consist of electromagnetic waves of frequency between 30 hertz (Hz) and 300 gigahertz (GHz). These waves are produced by a transmitter which is an electronic device connected to an antenna which radiates the waves, and received by a radio receiver connected to another antenna. Radio has a wide coverage in modern technology, used in radio communication and other applications(Dendo, 2003). The adoption of the use of radio for the mitigation and eradication of the crisis between the Fulani herds’ men and farmers was approved by the government of Nigeria on May 21 2019. According to the minister, the radio service will function as a means for social mobilization, provision of interactive radio instruction and education aimed at proffering lasting solution to the crisis between herders and farmers which has led to the loss of many lives, destruction of productive assets and the enhancement of nomadic education, and learning resources(Eniola 2007). The license was granted to the National Commission for Nomadic Education for the establishment of a radio station. The study seeks to appraise the role of Fulani radio in resolving herdsmen farmers’ crisis in Nigeria.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
The crisis between Fulani herdsmen and farmers has constituted another challenge in recent times due to growing scarcity of arable land and water sources. Consequently, herdsmen have been on the path of survival by intruding into farmlands in a bit to provide pastures for their cattles and cows(Ahiauzu, 2005). This contravention of farmlands has resulted in escalating level of conflict between herdsmen and farmers in Nigeria. This violence has led to the loss of many lives and properties. Therefore, the adoption of a radio channel is viewed as a measure to provide information and education which facilitate the eradication of the menace in Nigeria(Solagberu 2012). Therefore, the problem confronting the study is to appraise the role of Fulani radio in resolving herdsmen farmers’ crisis in Nigeria.
1.3 OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY
The Main Objective of the study is to appraise the role of Fulani radio in resolving herdsmen farmers’ crisis in Nigeria.
The specific objectives include:
-
To find out how effective Fulani Radio is in resolving farmers-herders crises in Nigeria.
-
To investigate the impacts of the Fulani Radio on Farmers Herders crises.
-
To identify the factors militating against the effectiveness of the Fulani Radio.
1.4 Statement of the Hypothesis
H01: Fulani Radio is not effective in resolving farmers-herders’ crises in Nigeria.
H02: Fulani Radio have no positive impact on Farmers Herders crises.
1.5 Significance of the Study
The study appraises the role of Fulani radio in resolving herdsmen farmers’ crisis in Nigeria. The study shall therefore serve as veritable source of information to stakeholders to proffer interventions which will address the problem.
1.6 Scope of the Study
The study focuses on the appraisal of the role of Fulani radio in resolving herdsmen farmers’ crisis in Nigeria.
1.7 Limitation of the Study
The study was confronted with logistics and geographical factors.
