ABSTRACT
The study investigated into the factors affecting the development of sports and games in some selected secondary schools in Oyo West Local Government Area of Oyo state. Students in some selected secondary schools in Oyo West Local Government Area of Oyo state served as the population. Simple random sampling technique was used to select a sample of one hundred and fifty subjects. The instrument used was a validated self developed questionnaire and was found reliable at 0.87 co efficient of reliability, with the use of test retest method. In all, three hypotheses were used and tested .Descriptive statistics of frequency count and percentage were used to analyse personal data, while inferential statistics of chi square was used to test the research hypotheses. The study equipments and facilities, qualified personnel and motivation affects the development of sports and games. Therefore, it was recommended that adequate equipments and facilities should be provided, government should recruit qualified personnel for the teaching of sports and games and finally, sports and games should effectively motivated for the development of sports and games.
