Question were drawn is such a way that enabled the respondents the opportunity to express their consequences and ways it can be effectively managed. The result and findings of the study revealed that the causes of conflict in the Nigeria security, printing and miniting company limited was largely due to lack of proper information dissemination, difference in perception, poor condition of services and above all, the attitude of management towards the general staff policies and welfare. The finding of the research indicates the conflict in the company can be managed if the management can put in place a proper information dissemination system in dealing with all matters affecting the staff without fear or favour. For further investigation and good labour relation, management should look into what motivated the workers what they really need how they behave and try as much as possible to ascribe value to them.

CHAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTION

1.1     BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

Conflict is a part of organizational life and may occur within the individuals, between groups. Social interactions is the hub of social life and remains the basic process through which organizations, societies and institutions mobilize and utilize available resources to achieve predetermined goals. In a society life ours individual cannot survive in a manner acceptable to the society.

Within the context of the organization, Hall (1977: 76) Defined organizational conflict as a disagreement between individuals, or groups within the organization stemming for the need to share scarce work activity.

Thus one of the principle aims of management is to create and try to maintain an enabling environment in order to promote or enhance employees productivity. In every organization, it is the desire of management to maximize profit and thus can only be achieved through increased productivity in order to arrive at a desired level of productivity, three major things play important roles:

These are MEN, MATERIALS, MONEY, All are interdependence such that one can not be separated from the other. However no matter their level of interdependence, man play a very crucial role among the three, in that, other two are inanimate items and can only be put into use by man. The important of man can therefore not be overemphasized as far as be rich in monetary terms, have enough materials but without adequate and well trained staff to control the money and manipulate materials, such organization is doomed to collapse.
