1.0 INTRODUCTION
Job can be defined as a regular activity performed in exchange for payment, while job satisfaction is the contentment of an individual with his or her job.
Worker or workforce simply means the labour pool in employment, it is generally used to describe those working for a single company or industry, it excludes the employers or management. it also means all those that are available at work.
Government establishment are organizations established and controlled by the government through the board of directors such as public corporations, schools, hospitals etc.
Job satisfaction is how contented an individual is with his or her job, scholars and human resource professionals generally make a distinct in between affective and cognitive job satisfaction. Affective job satisfaction is the extent of pleasurable emotional feelings individuals have about their jobs overall’ and is different to cognitive job satisfaction which is the extent of individuals satisfaction with particular facets of their jobs, such as pay, pension, arrangements, working hours and numerous other aspects of their jobs.
In most of the government establishment, workers are not satisfied with their jobs because they engage themselves in other works or trade which is against the laid down principle of the establishment, which is mostly caused by the delay in the pay of the workers, low wage, delay in promotion and so on which affects job satisfaction in government establishment negatively which result into strike, boycott, engaging in atrocities, lukewarmness to job etc.
1.1 PURPOSE OF THE STUDY
The purpose of this study is to examine the job satisfaction amongst workers in government establishment.
1.2 OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY
1. To examine job satisfaction in government establishment.
2. To ascertain how job satisfaction will function in government establishment so as to positively make the establishment grow.
3. To study how job satisfaction will increase productivity in government establishment.
1.3 RESEARCH QUESTION
1. What is job satisfaction among workers?
2. What are the functions of job satisfaction?
3. Does job satisfaction increase productivity?
1.4 RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Primary and secondary sources of data will be adopted as the method for this research work, the sampling selection and sample technique will be mentioned.
1.5 SCOPE OF THE STUDY
The scope of this study is limited to the JOB SATISFACTION IN THE POLYTECHNIC IBADAN,ADESEUN OGUNDOYIN CAMPUS,ERUWA.
1.6 ANTICIPATED LIMITATION
These are the likely problems to be faced while gathering the data to be used in this research work, such as, time factor, financial factor, material factor etc.
