ABSTRACT
Every organization, whether private or government needs effective planning to reach the desired goals and enough resources to assigned to ensure the successful execution of the chosen action. This study will focus on the “impact of effective planning on organizational effectiveness and efficiency”. organization to be responsive to the organization needs, its members and environment; to examine the extent effective planning has had any impact on The objectives of the study includes to find out the following; how important is the effective planning on the company’s goals and objectives; to determine how productivity can be enhanced through effectiveness and efficiency; to determine the extent to which effective planning impacted on employees performance. These lead to the use of data collected from both primary and secondary sources in the form: Questionnaire and personal interviews and review of related literatures respectively. A total of 12 questions were asked in all with 50 questionnaires administered and 45 were filled and returned representing 90% of the population sample. Data collected from respondents were presented, interpreted and analyzed based on the use of percentages and simple T. Test and findings the researcher evidence was that the effective planning has significant impact on the achievement of objectives. The reasons for this were basically built on planning which is the bedrock of any organization achievements of its objectives. Thus, the researcher has recommended among others: organization should be abreast changes in technology, innovation, engaging their workers in training, and improvement of their welfares.
CHAPTER ONE
1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
The organizational planning can be described as the process of logically grouping activities delegating the authority, and responsibility and establishing working relationships that will both the company and employee to realize their mutual objective.
Effective planning on organizational therefore, is the most important aspect and function of administration. The essence of effective planning cannot be over looked as it is to prepare for strategy and procedure required for accomplishing the overall organizational objectives and resources to achieve set down goals.
Effectiveness and efficiency in an organization is engaged in detailed planning in order to identify the sources of raw materials, equipment employed determines sources of delivery dates, sources of working capital. Many organization projects failed due to inadequate of effective planning.
A good planning must therefore be realistic, have clearly defined objectives, comprehensive, flexible and economically effective.
1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM.
In most of our organization today, productivity of workers is far below expectations, business, many organization incur a lot of lost as a form of wastage caused by lack of effective planning which results to inefficiency in which workers are unable to perform their various job effectively to enhance productivity.
There are still many problems facing organization due to Lack of effective planning such problems are; poor management, low technical skills etc.
1.3 OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY.
The general objective of the study is to give an insight into the impact of effective planning on organizational effectiveness and efficiency; specifically it is aimed at finding out the following.
- How important is the effective planning on organization to be responsive to the organizations needs, its members and environment. J
- To examine the extent effective planning has had any impact on the company’s goals and objectives.
- To determine how productivity can be enhanced through effectiveness and efficiency.
- To examine the extent to which effective planning impacted on employees’ performance.
1.4 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY.
Considering the significance of the study, you will observe that all organization whether government or nongovernmental, profit or nonprofit cannot over look the relevance of effective planning and its efficiency info an organization.
The study is of immense benefits to managers, accounting management, employment of personnel and human resources and public administrations officers the needs for effective planning.
The Study is also relevant to academicians, industry and to the society at large, since it attempt to ascertain in areas of effective planning on organizational effectiveness and efficiency.
1.5. RESEARCH QUESTION
- To what extent has effective planning impacted on employees’ performance?
- To what extent does effective planning impact on the company’s goals and objectives of the organization?
- To what extent does productivity enhanced through effectiveness and efficiency?
- Does important of effective planning on organization serves as means of responsiveness to the organization needs, its members and environment.
1.6 RESEARCH HYPOTHESIS
The researcher formulated the hypothesis is to find out the relationship between effective planning on organizational effectiveness and efficiency and also examine whether effective planning brings employees performance in an organization.
- Ho: Effective planning does not have significant impact on the achievement of Objectives of the organization.
- Hi: Effective planning does have significant impact on the achievement of objectives of the organization
- Ho: Effective planning does not have significant on employees performance
- Hi: Effective planning has significant impact on employees’ performance.
1.7. SCOPE OF THE STUDY
The scope of the study here will be limited to the research on the effective planning on organizational effectiveness and efficiency on the management of NOVUM Agricultural Industries ltd which embraces their Headquarters in Panda, new Karu Local Government Area Nasarawa
1.8. LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY
The authenticity as well as validity in a research work of this magnitude and nature is limited by number of factors both economic, materially, socially, physically and otherwise.
The authenticity of findings surely depends largely on the degree of honesty exhibited by the officials concerned, some vital in information was not revealed because of their competitors, having no insight on information as the running and operations of their company.
Secondly, this project work required one to consult some books by way of exploring the library in preparing its review and compilation, but the piece of work is therefore restricted to a number of books available. Moreover, the investigation on this research work only covered the company.
1.9. DEFINITION OF TERMS
The meanings attached to some terms as used in the context of this study are given below:
- Planning: – It involves selecting enterprise goals and department objectives, then finding ways of achieving them.
- Effectiveness: – This means the ability to producing a desired result.
- Efficiency: – This means the ability to produce something without wasting materials, time and energy.
- Organization: – This simple means a system where two or more people agreed to get together and coordinate their activities to meet goals.
- Human Resources Planning: – Putting right number of people and right kind of people at the right place, at the right time, and doing the right thing for which they are suited for the achievement of the goals of the organization.
