ABSTRACT
This project studied the impact of psychological preparation on performance in Football among players in Pepsi academy Lagos. The researcher based the study on this following questions; Such as in what way will pep-talk influence the performance of football players?
How will relaxation technique influence players’ performance in Football? How does self criticism affects a players performance in Football?
How will mental practice is having an alerted mind with positive attitudes towards ones objective influence the performance of Football players.
One hundred and fifty (100) copies of questionnaire where administered to players in Pepsi academy Lagos – state the questionnaire contained twenty (20) items based on the above question and bio-data of the players. Multiple regression analysis was used to analyze the data at 0.05 alpha level of significance.
Coaches and Team Psychologists should provide avenue for mental relaxation which eventually lay foundation for concentration that lead to enhanced Football performance.
Football players should be encouraged to develop mental preparation with positive attitude to the game which assists them in having confidence in the match.
