ABSTRACT
Library is a fast growing organism. The ancient methods of maintaining it are no longer dynamic and efficient. For expeditious retrieval and dissemination of information and better service for the clientele, application of modern techniques has become absolutely indispensable. A properly computerized library will help its users with quick and prompt services.
Library automation refers to mechanization of library housekeeping operations predominantly by computerization. Library management information system is a typical management system (MIS), its Development include the establishment and maintenance of back-end database and front-end application development aspects. For the former require the establishment of data consistency and integrity of the strong data security and good libraries. As for the latter requires the application fully functional, easy to use, and rich client interface. The Library System is also created to ensure that the library items store properly in other to maintain their security.

Background to the Study
Statement of the Problem
The present study aims to Design and Implementation of Computerized Library Management System for the University Department Library and integrated that with University Central Library. The title is “Design and Implementation of Computerized Library Management System in Anambra state college of agriculture, Mgbakwu”.
Purpose of the Study
- 1. To develop an updated database of Books and other Resources of the school of College Library, Anambra state college of agriculture, Mgbakwu.
- 2. To implement automated system using ComputerizedLibrary Management Integrated Open Source
Software.
- 3. To carry out the charging and discharging functions of the circulation section more
effectively.
- 4. To provide various search options to know the availability of books in the Library.
- To generate the list of books due by a particular member and also the overdue charges.
Significance of the Study
- 1. It helps to update database of Books and other Resources of the school of College Library, Anambra state college of agriculture, Mgbakwu.
- 2. It helps to carry out the charging and discharging functions of the circulation section more effectively.
- 3. It helps to provide various search options to know the availability of books in the Library.
- It helps to generate the list of books due by a particular member and also the overdue charges.
- It helps to keep the track of issues and submission of books.
Scope of the Study
The scope of this study is limited to the extent of use of computerized Library Management system in college Library in Anambra state college of agriculture, Mgbakwu.

- How adequate are the available systems for Library Management in Anambra state college of agriculture, Mgbakwu?
- To what extent do employees utilize the available systems for Library Management in Anambra state college of agriculture, Mgbakwu?
